Arrival Day Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax and recover from your journey. In the evening, you will meet your mountain guide for a comprehensive pre-climb briefing and equipment check to ensure that you are fully prepared for your Kilimanjaro adventure. Overnight at your hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Day 1: Londorossi Gate (2,100 m) – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m) After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and continue to the trailhead. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. This gentle hike takes about 3–4 hours and offers the chance to spot black-and-white colobus monkeys and various bird species. Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m) – Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m) Today, you leave the rainforest behind and ascend into the heath and moorland zone. The trail offers stunning views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Peak before arriving at Shira 1 Camp after 5–6 hours of trekking. Day 3: Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m) – Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m) A relatively easy day designed for acclimatization. You cross the scenic Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world, and arrive at Shira 2 Camp after 3–4 hours. Day 4: Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m) – Lava Tower (4,630 m) – Barranco Camp (3,960 m) This important acclimatization day involves ascending to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. Following the principle of "climb high, sleep low" helps your body adapt to the altitude and increases your chances of reaching the summit successfully. Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,960 m) – Karanga Camp (4,035 m) Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a fun and rewarding scramble that offers spectacular views. Continue through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp, arriving after approximately 4–5 hours of trekking. Day 6: Karanga Camp (4,035 m) – Barafu Camp (4,673 m) A short trek brings you to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. After an early dinner, rest and prepare your gear for the challenging summit climb ahead. Day 7: Barafu Camp (4,673 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Mweka Camp (3,100 m) Shortly after midnight, begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Witness a spectacular sunrise from the summit before descending to Barafu Camp for a short break and continuing to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain. Day 8: Mweka Camp (3,100 m) – Mweka Gate (1,640 m) Descend through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you will receive your summit certificate. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration. Departure Day After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey. If you wish to extend your stay, additional safari adventures or Zanzibar beach holidays can be arranged upon request. About This Tour
The 8-day Lemosho Route is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and successful routes on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering exceptional acclimatization and a high summit success rate. Beginning on the remote western side of the mountain, the route traverses the spectacular Shira Plateau and passes through diverse ecological zones, from lush rainforest and heathland to alpine desert and the arctic summit zone. The itinerary includes a crucial acclimatization day via Lava Tower, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle to maximize summit success. Trekkers enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak, Mount Meru, and the surrounding plains, while experiencing highlights such as the scenic Barranco Valley, the iconic Barranco Wall, and unique flora and wildlife, including black-and-white colobus monkeys. Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Day
