About This Tour
The 8 Days Serengeti River Crossing Wildebeest Migration safari follows one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles, the Great Migration, during the legendary Mara River crossings. From August to October, over a million wildebeests, joined by zebras and gazelles, surge across the river in northern Serengeti National Park as they move between Tanzania and Kenya in search of fresh grazing. Your journey begins in Arusha and explores Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations, including the baobab-dotted landscapes of Tarangire National Park, the central and northern Serengeti migration corridors, and the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Big Five. With exceptional game viewing and unforgettable encounters from dramatic river crossings to tracking predators across the plains, every day delivers a true bucket-list safari experience.

What makes this attraction especially famous is the dense population of predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which requires a trained eye to be spotted. We also visited Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwest corner and one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other waterfowl can be found in this lake. Accommodation: Planet Lodge | Meal Plan: Bed & Breakfast.
