7 DAYS SOUTHERN TANZANIA

Day 1: Drive from Dar Es Salaam to Mikumi National Park In the morning you will depart to Mikumi National Park which takes around 4 hours drive from Dar Es Salaam with lunch en-route. On arrival afternoon game drive in the park and overnight in Mikumi Safari Lodge. All meals included.

Day 2: Mikumi National Park Full day of game drives in the Mikumi National Park Overnight in Mikumi Safari Lodge. Whilst on safari, you can see a rich variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephants. If you are lucky you may also be able to spot lions, leopards and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland and antelope. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety.

Day 3: Drive from Mikumi to Ruaha National Park After breakfast, depart for Ruaha National Park, having lunch en-route. By afternoon you will have reached the Ruaha Hilltop Lodge, which is built on a hill with a wonderfull panoramic view. There are many types of different birds, wild flowers, butterflies and trees that can be seen nearby. The luxury self contained cottages are very comfortable and private, each with its own balcony with a beautiful view. Our water is heated by solar power.The reception, dining room and bar are all under one roof, with a gallery to enjoy the spectacular African sunrise and sunset. Giraffes, elephants and baboons and kudus can sometimes be glimpsed not far way. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha new bandas. All meals included.

Day 04: Ruaha National Park full day of game driving at Ruaha National Park, with picnic lunches. Ruaha has an area of 10,300sq.km, and is the second largest park, and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha River that flows along its entire eastern border creates spectacular gorges and scenery, and features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals that inhabit the park include both Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan and sable antelope. Bird life is also rich, with over 370 species recorded. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha new bandas. All meals included.

Day5- 06: Udzungwa Mountains National Park Departure for Udzungwa Mountain National Park, arriving in the afternoon. Take part in half a day of hiking and bird-watching in the pristine rain forest: trekking towards the Sanje waterfalls for spectacular views of the wide Kilombero Valley. Overnight in twiga lodge. All meals included.

Day5- 06: Udzungwa Mountains National Park Departure for Udzungwa Mountain National Park, arriving in the afternoon. Take part in half a day of hiking and bird-watching in the pristine rain forest: trekking towards the Sanje waterfalls for spectacular views of the wide Kilombero Valley. Overnight in twiga lodge. All meals included.

Day 07: DEPARTURE End of your southern circuit safari, departure to Dar es Salaam and onward travel. Breakfast and lunch box provided.
