ROUTE & ITINERARY DAY 1: Arrival Kilimanjaro International Airport, Arusha Karibu Tanzania - Welcome to Tanzania. On arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you will be met by our RushTrek Tour representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha for check-in, freshen up and overnight after a long-haul flight. Arusha; Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. The 1,096 square miles of protected lands are home to a large variety of game such as: wildebeests, elephants, zebras, gazelles, elands, gerenuks, lions and leopards. Extensive grasslands, dusted with the occasional acacia or baobab tree, provide optimum conditions for viewing wild animals. Alongside your professional driver guide, explore the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world. Magnificent geography and fertile soils lure huge herds of plains game and predators in what makes for a multi-colored and thrilling amphitheater of wildlife. Today you will do a game drive in one of the Wonders of the Natural World. Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world teams with an abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Prides of lions, herds of Cape buffalo, impala, Thompson gazelles, Elephants, golden and black backed jackal, zebra and the spotted hyena freely roam on the crater floor plains. Unmatched for its natural variety and breath-taking beauty, there are few places on earth where such a tremendous diversity of landscapes exists inside a region this size. Stop at the viewpoint at the top of the rim offering a first glimpse of the famous Ngorongoro Crater, then continue to the Serengeti. The drive itself, although long, but it is definitely spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in local language, "endless plains". The park has 6,900 sq miles (18,000 sq km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the great migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes. As for big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous River Crossings having been filmed in this park. After a long but spectacular journey, you will arrive in the park in time for a fantastic afternoon game drive. Central Serengeti - Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities.
