Obuasi is a mining city in southern Ghana’s Ashanti Region, located about 64 kilometers (40 miles) southwest of Kumasi. Known as “the Gold City,” it owes its growth and global recognition to the Obuasi Gold Mine—one of the world’s richest and longest-operating gold deposits. The city serves as both a municipal capital and a key industrial hub in Ghana’s economy.
